Holly had a week’s worth of vacation in Las Vegas, but she had bought the non-refundable tickets when she had a boyfriend to travel with. Now, not so much. She had tried to round up another friend to come with her, but the list she had at hand was rather short, and so, after three days in Vegas, Holly found herself alone in a bar. Her chin rested on her hand she looked at a wall through the fuzzy haze of a buzz and slightly crossed eyes. She didn’t even think much, because invariably her thoughts turned to the drek her life had become, and no happy ending that could come from that.

The door to the old, yet pristine, Victorian-style mansion opened almost soundlessly, which wasn’t the most reassuring thing in the early summer night. The tigress behind them, and her red fox husband, welcomed her guests with a smile. Another red fox, an arctic fox, a wolf, a tabby cat, and a skunk. “Come back to the living room with us, please,” the tigress stated. Once they were all there and seated, the tigress, Ning, laid out the plan. “So, now that you’re all here, I’ll set out the rules for you. As soon as I say you may go, you all have ten minutes to hide.” “Why ten?” The skunk, Immanuel, piped up. The husband, Chester, gestured around the room. “Because this place is huge.” Ning nodded. “And, once time is up, you’ll have to hide for one hour.
